What the Science of Happiness can do for you?

Hey there, how have you been?

Positive psychology is an uplifting branch of psychology. It shows ways to grow and flourish, even through hardships, and develops resilience in the face of adversity from a myriad of angles.

Last Friday, I attended a lecture given by Tal Ben Shahar, a Harvard professor, and a master in Positive Psychology. One of the things he said is that “Success doesn’t make you happy, but your way of thinking does,”. A spiritual way of thinking would confirm that right away.

This has been also recently proven by science.

Another statement he made was: “Depression is anxiety without hope.”
This makes so much sense.

Hope is THE most integral ingredient for survival.

However, just choosing positive thoughts is often not enough to totally free yourself from anxiety or depression.

There have been scientific studies showing that the hardships our families have gone through, and /or the atrocities our family may have experienced, can cause residue emotions in us.

We can re-live our mothers’ anxiety or depression, we can carry our father’s anger or disappointments, and so much more. Unconsciously, we can even replicate the failed relationships of our parents and grandparents.

Symptoms such as depression and anxiety are commonly found in the offspring of people who have suffered severe trauma. We call that epigenetics.

Those emotions and patterns are stored deeply in our subconscious. Our conscious thoughts can not easily override those power​ful​ dynamics.

Unfortunately, finding the cause, clearing and healing does not happen with typical talk therapy.

The causes are deeply embedded in the subconscious.

Even practicing daily positive thinking and affirmations, though helpful, rarely remove the anchored programs in our subconscious.

Thankfully, Systemic Family Constellations can detect and help to shift and release the inherited burden with laser-sharp accuracy. It can free the person who is doing a constellation, it can even impact their offspring.

When I stumbled upon this powerful work during workshops in the Netherlands where I’m from, in the late nineties, (developed by the German psychotherapist Bert Hellinger, ) it blew my mind, and I became an avid student and later a facilitator.

Many of you know that I have done this work for over 20 years, often on ZOOM (1-1), but I have also led many live group workshops.

After a long pandemic pause, I am finally planning a LIVE group workshop in Boca Raton! I hope you will join me if you can.
